Starting a business, managing it well, and ensuring that it has an influence on people’s lives is a difficult task in and of itself. Re-store, a Singapore-based, women-led venture, has effectively struck this balance.

Re-store, a self-funded venture led by three visionary founders – Claudia Yong, Karen, and Veronica – brings a unique blend of creative leadership, production expertise, and relationship management to the table. Claudia at the helm as the creative director, CEO, and designer, Karen in charge of production, and Veronica handling HR, finance, and corporate relations.

Their journey began with a noble objective – making a positive impact on marginalized communities. Initially, the focus was on helping communities in the Philippines or Cambodia. However, when the pandemic struck, the overseas projects were hindered. Nevertheless, the founders redirected their efforts to support local single mothers who were grappling with job losses and financial instability.

Re-store is all about upcycling local textile waste into accessories like bags, hats, and custom corporate gifts, all crafted in Singapore. Local textile waste is sourced within the city, and the production team comprises women from marginalized communities. As they navigate the challenges that come with being entrepreneurs, including limited financial resources, the founders continue to make strides. Their dedication to growth and learning, coupled with their long-term vision includes not only sustaining the business but also ensuring that the women they employ receive fair compensation for their work.

Re-store is changing the game when it comes to sustainable accessories in Singapore. It is a space that is all about offering locally crafted, one-of-a-kind items made with unique and colorful materials, which also offers customers with eco-friendly choices.

Re-store has you covered if you’re looking for thoughtful presents or corporate giveaways.. Furthermore, it works with organizations and businesses to produce personalized corporate presents that reflect their beliefs. Re-store encourages customers to repurpose materials such as outdated staff uniforms, changing them into one-of-a-kind things such as keychains or pouches. This minimizes waste while also adding a sustainable spin to corporate giving.

Every piece produced by Re-store is truly unique. By solely using upcycled materials, they ensure their products are limited in quantity, often one-of-a-kind. Their commitment to local sustainability means every design is painstakingly created, designed, and produced right here in Singapore.

The collection includes Scrunchies and Bucket Hats crafted from upcycled denim, Wristlet Pouches made from premium upholstery deadstock. They also offer versatile Sling and Tote Bags created from premium upholstery deadstock and preloved pants scraps. Don’t miss the unique Hand-Patched Denim Tote Bag, carefully crafted from discarded denim wear and denim scraps, making each piece truly one of a kind.

Re-store’s journey has been marked by significant milestones. Using its website to reach out and market its products, it also enthusiastically participated in various pop-up events to raise brand awareness. Two pivotal moments however rapidly boosted the growth trajectory

The first was their feature on Our Better World, a non-profit organization that showcases stories and brands making a positive impact across Asia. This exposure resulted in a substantial surge in both awareness and sales for Re-store. Their association with the Singapore International Foundation, which oversees Our Better World, further elevated their profile, as they were featured in the organization’s magazine in the first issue of 2023.

Another major achievement for Re-store was securing a spot at Design Orchard Singapore – a retail space, managed by the Singapore Fashion Council and Singapore Tourism Board. With a constant stream of local and international visitors, this platform served as a substantial boost to brand visibility.

The brand has successfully completed approximately 700 orders online, and the offline market has proven twice as promising. Re-store envisions a physical place that includes a studio, retail area, and immersive brand experience in the next five years, where customers can engage with products, attend workshops, and even design their customized items.

“At Re-store, our vision is clear: to inspire conscious living and empowerment. We aim to reshape the way we consume, redefine design boundaries, and reignite the innate human desire to make a positive impact. Our commitment is a pact to repurpose, rebuild, and restore our world, one conscious choice at a time.” Shared Claudia with a smile.
