Some businesses begin with a market opportunity, while others begin with a deeply personal purpose. The most memorable brands are often those built around people, relationships, and the desire to create something meaningful.

For founder Vicky, candles became more than beautiful home fragrances. They became a way to bring generations together, celebrate creativity, and eventually create opportunities for people who are often overlooked.

Founded together with her father-in-law, Hands and Heart is a candle brand rooted in artistry, inclusion, and community impact, proving that every candle can carry a story worth sharing.

A Family Vision Inspired By Art And Inclusion

The idea behind Hands and Heart was born from two important parts of Vicky’s life. Her father-in-law has always enjoyed art and creativity, and she wanted to create something that would keep him actively engaged while allowing him to express his artistic side.

At the same time, Vicky brings over fifteen years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities. Throughout her career, she has been a strong advocate for inclusion and creating opportunities based on individual strengths and abilities.

After discovering a candle-making course that also covered branding and business development, she saw the opportunity to combine both passions into one meaningful venture. Her long-term goal is to eventually employ persons with disabilities within the business, whether through candle production or by supporting workshops and events.

Creating Candles That Speak To Different Personalities

Since officially launching in April, Hands and Heart has introduced a carefully curated collection of fragrances designed to suit different moods and preferences, from calming florals to comforting gourmand notes and sophisticated woody blends.

Among the current favourites is Blush Reverie, a premium peony fragrance inspired by luxury perfumes and paired with a wooden wick that creates a gentle crackling sound while burning. The sensory experience offers customers both elegance and relaxation.

Another customer favourite is Golden Drizzle, a warm salted caramel scent that quickly became one of the brand’s bestsellers. Many customers initially describe it as smelling like dessert, only to return later to purchase it again as gifts for family and friends.

Completing the trio of bestsellers is Ember Bloom, an osmanthus fragrance that has become increasingly popular among customers seeking something soft, floral, and refreshing for their homes and workplaces.

The brand continues to expand its collection with seasonal releases such as Iris Embrace, a lavender and chamomile blend, alongside upcoming launches including musky fragrances and trendy latte-inspired candles.

Turning Creativity Into Connection Through Workshops

Beyond candles, Hands and Heart also offers interactive workshops that allow participants to experience the creative process firsthand. Rather than simply purchasing a finished candle, customers have the opportunity to melt wax, explore fragrance options, choose colours, and create something uniquely their own.

Participants often describe the process as therapeutic and calming, with different stages of candle making offering moments of mindfulness and relaxation. For some, it is watching the wax melt, while others enjoy blending fragrances or experimenting with colours.

Looking ahead, Vicky hopes to grow the brand through workshops, collaborations, corporate gifting, and special events while continuing to build awareness through social media and community engagement.

Most importantly, she hopes that when people think about candles in the future, they will immediately think of Hands and Heart, a brand built not only with hands, but truly with heart.
