Pronto1926: Bringing Authentic Sicilian Flavours To Singapore With Ready-To-Enjoy Italian Meals For many people, preparing an authentic Italian meal at home is often limited by time rather than interest. While the desire to enjoy traditional recipes remains, creating sauces from scratch can be challenging for busy households. Recognising this gap, Pronto1926 was founded to make genuine Italian cuisine more accessible through premium ready-to-enjoy sauces inspired by generations of Sicilian family recipes.

Founded in 2017 by an Italian entrepreneur from Sicily who has called Singapore home for nearly two decades, Pronto1926 was inspired by a simple observation. His wife regularly brought homemade pasta prepared with his sauces to work, where colleagues consistently praised the flavours and shared their wish for authentic Italian meals that required minimal preparation. This inspired the creation of Pronto1926 under the philosophy of “Just Add Pasta.” The brand’s name, Pronto, meaning “ready” in Italian, reflects its commitment to convenience, while 1926 honours his late grandmother, Nonna Amelia, whose family recipes continue to shape the brand today.

Preserving Authentic Italian Culinary Traditions

Authenticity remains the foundation of every Pronto1926 product. Rather than adapting recipes to suit trends, the brand stays faithful to traditional Italian cooking methods passed down through generations. Its Ragù alla Bolognese is slow-cooked for five hours to develop rich flavour, while the Frutti di Mare sauce is prepared using fresh seafood instead of frozen alternatives. Most ingredients are sourced directly from Italy whenever possible, complemented by locally sourced halal-certified meat and fresh seafood to ensure both authenticity and Muslim-friendly offerings.

The journey began with Nero di Seppia (Black Squid Ink), a cherished speciality from the founder’s Sicilian hometown. Since then, the range has expanded thoughtfully to include authentic pasta sauces from different regions of Italy, alongside espresso and traditional desserts such as alcohol-free Tiramisu. Every new product is selected based on two guiding  principles: it must remain true to Italian culinary heritage while offering practical convenience for modern consumers.

Growing Through Quality, Education, And Community

Building Pronto1926 has required patience and perseverance. Although the business first launched in 2017, operations were paused in 2022 due to professional commitments before being relaunched in 2026. The return has been warmly welcomed by loyal customers, while simultaneously introducing the brand to a new audience across Singapore.

The business also continues to navigate rising production costs, increasing rental expenses, and the challenge of educating consumers about authentic Italian cuisine. Many customers are familiar with heavily sauced interpretations of Italian dishes, whereas traditional recipes such as Ragù alla Bolognese place greater emphasis on slow-cooked meat than excess sauce.

As Pronto1926’s preservative-free products are frozen to maintain freshness, the brand also invests time in educating customers on proper storage and preparation to ensure every meal delivers the intended dining experience.

Looking Ahead

Over the coming year, Pronto1926 plans to expand its product range while increasing brand awareness throughout Singapore. The long-term vision is to make authentic Italian cuisine even more accessible by bringing its premium Sicilian-inspired products to retail stores and supermarket shelves, allowing more households to experience the flavours, traditions, and family heritage that continue to define the brand.
