Teh tarik, a classic Malaysian beverage known for its rich, frothy texture and perfect balance of tea and milk, has long been a staple at gatherings and celebrations. Its soothing taste connects people, making it a cherished drink in many households. One such household has transformed their love for teh tarik into a successful home-based business.

The Birth of Teh Tarik Satu

Founded by Fadhilah in February 2020, Teh Tarik Satu started as a modest endeavor to create a side income while fulfilling her role as a full-time housewife. Although she was confident in her cooking skills for family gatherings, Fadhilah didn’t see herself pursuing culinary ventures beyond her home.

However, the consistent demand for her family-favorite teh tarik during gatherings inspired her to turn her simple passion into a business. With her family’s unwavering support, she launched Teh Tarik Satu, offering authentic, homemade beverages.

Initially, the brand focused on traditional teh tarik, kopi o, and other hot beverages. Over time, Fadhilah introduced innovative formats, such as bottled iced tea and larger quantities served in thermos containers for private events. She also collaborated with her sister-in-law, adding halal Muah Chee desserts to the menu. This partnership not only diversified the offerings but also created a shared opportunity for two home-based entrepreneurs.

Building a Home-Based Legacy

Like many businesses, Teh Tarik Satu faced its share of challenges, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Restrictions on movement hindered deliveries, and increasing competition from other home-based teh tarik sellers added pressure. Additionally, the brand’s reliance on Instagram for marketing limited its ability to reach a broader audience.

Despite these hurdles, Fadhilah maintains a positive outlook, viewing competition as an opportunity for customers to explore varied tastes. Her focus remains on quality and freshness, ensuring every cup is prepared on the spot. This dedication has helped Teh Tarik Satu serve over 500 satisfied customers since its inception.

What’s Next for Teh Tarik Satu?

Looking ahead, Fadhilah plans to introduce a new product—brandy, a beverage she has been perfecting with care. While she remains committed to the home-based model for its flexibility and peace of mind, her emphasis on quality and customer satisfaction continues to be at the heart of her business. Teh Tarik Satu exemplifies how a passion for cherished traditions can evolve into a beloved brand.
