How a Mother’s Passion Became a Thriving Business:

Liyana’s journey into the world of entrepreneurship began long before NGEMIL by Che Yana came into existence. As a mother of four children who adored her homemade cookies, Liyana found solace and joy in the art of baking.

“I have loved baking since I was young,” she reminisces.

“But it was when I became a mother that my baking truly took flight.”

From 2008 onwards, Liyana dedicated herself to perfecting her cookie recipes, delighting her family with an array of flavours and textures. However, it wasn’t until 2021 that the idea of turning her passion into a business took root.

“I wanted to share my cookies with others beyond my family and friends,” Liyana explains.

Her husband, who owns a Nasi Padang Stall in Tanjong Pagar, played an important role in encouraging her towards this home-based business., Liyana leapt and launched NGEMIL by Che Yana in 2021. Little did she know that her venture would soon blossom into something beyond her wildest dreams.

Navigating Challenges and Growth in the Startup World:

As a part-time endeavour alongside her duties as a homemaker, Liyana faced a unique set of challenges in growing NGEMIL by Che Yana.

Balancing family commitments with the demands of running a business proved to be a constant juggling act for Liyana. However, her unwavering passionfueled her perseverance through the challenges she faced.

During the tumultuous period of the COVID-19 pandemic, Liyana acknowledges that it was indeed a challenging time for NGEMIL by Che Yana. However, amidst the adversity, it also marked a phase of remarkable growth for their business, reflecting Liyana’s resilience and adaptability. The onset of the pandemic forced her to adapt to the changing landscape of consumer behaviour, as more people sought comfort in homemade treats while staying at home.

Consequently, demand for NGEMIL by Che Yana’s cookies soared during this time. Reflecting on this period, Liyana describes it as both challenging and transformative, highlighting how the business not only weathered the storm but also thrived in the face of adversity.

Through strategic marketing efforts and word-of-mouth recommendations, NGEMIL by Che Yana expanded its customer base, serving up smiles one cookie at a time. Liyana’s dedication and resilience paid off as her startup gained recognition and appreciation within the local community.

The Future Vision of NGEMIL by Che Yana:

Liyana envisions a future where NGEMIL by Che Yana transcends its home-based roots and blossoms into a full-fledged bakery empire. Her ultimate dream is to own a shop, where she can share her love for baking with even more people and create a welcoming space for everyone to indulge in their delicious treats.

In the next five years, Liyana hopes to witness NGEMIL by Che Yana evolve from a home kitchen operation to a bustling bakery stall, attracting customers eager to savour their signature cookies. She aims to expand their reach beyond online sales and establish a physical presence in the heart of Singapore.

With unwavering determination and a sprinkle of sweetness, NGEMIL by Che Yana is poised to write the next chapter of its success story, one cookie at a time. As Liyana continues to chase her dreams and spread joy through her baked creations, the future looks as bright and promising as a freshly baked batch of cookies straight from the oven.
